  1. Why am I imagining there must be an underground spring somewhere near.? Is that even possible.

    You bring the desert anatomy so close, we are crowded by it sometimes to the point of thinking this must not be the desert after all.

    1. A common misconception of the desert is that it is a barren, lifeless wasteland where little can survive. Nothing could be further from the truth. This ironwood, and a number of others, is along a wash that runs with water when (and if) it rains. They know how to survive.
